Balenti Peco Ramos was born in Niassa (Angola) and moved to Luanda (Angola) at the age of 12. He has been a teacher of English as a foreign language since 1976 and has been a columnist for the Angolan press since then. His first book, Linguaré: Sobre a Antiguidade de Linguagem (Linguaré: On the Antiquity of Language) was published in 2003. It has been translated into French, Portuguese and Italian and is considered as one of the most important works on linguistics in Angola.
